Purbeck Shuttle 200: Take a Ride to the Wild, We will take you right there
The shuttle bus to RSPB Arne, is now in its fifth consecutive year, has been renamed to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the modern railway, thus Purbeck Shuttle 200 and includes Purbeck Park (for Swanage Railway) and Norden Farm Campsite.
The 2026/2027 Shuttle Bus Service to connect Wareham train station and RSPB Arne Nature Reserve has been extended to cover the period from 22nd July to the end of August 2026 on a three day a week service on Tuesday Wednesdays and Saturdays. Thereafter the bus will run all year on Wednesday only and as follows going forward
2x weekly from Easter to end of summer
3x weekly Easter to end of summer during school holidays
The main objective is to provide a sustainable public transport link from Wareham Station to the RSPB Arne Nature Reserve and Purbeck Park connecting with the Swanage Heritage Railway, thus reducing road traffic especially during the main summer season. This also enables links with walking and cycle hire for visitors staying within the region and promoting active travel.
No bookings needed, just step onboard, enjoy the journey, and experience the outstanding scenery within Purbeck’s internationally recognised heathland. This we hope regular service is becoming known to locals and tourists alike and a growing expectation the bus will be there on a regular basis. This is particularly useful for those without access to a car and is also beneficial for local people coming into Wareham from the outlying parishes acting as a rural transport hub.
The project is supported and funded by the Purbeck Community Rail Partnership, Dorset Council, RSPB, Perenco and operated by Dorset Community Transport.
