Visit Dorchester promotes sustainable travel and integrated connections for onward travel. It demonstrates the options available and links the two stations operating on separate lines serving many destinations and the benefits of using public transport. We wish to promote the town as a package and encourages public transport use. We are working with our partners to make the stations more attractive and welcoming to existing customers and potential new customers that the railway can work for them.

This vision for active travel and the benefits for health and well-being promoting public transport and walking options and joined up ongoing travel. This also gives people more confidence to use the train, reduce congestion and reach their destinations with ease. We are catering for persons who do not have access to a car and wish to access the town and its facilities and not be aware of the connectivity and other services available.

This is not just about attracting tourism to the town, but to emphasise the practicality and convenience of using the train which takes you right into the heart of the county town. This is primarily aimed at the local community to sell the benefits, appeal to their environmental footprint and influence a behavioural change. We wish to appeal to the local workforce on the accessibility by train and hospitality market coming in for social reasons. This can appeal to day trips and short breaks from the east and the west of the region to visit by train, thus increasing visitors to the town and boosting economic activity and repeat visits.
